Move of the Day

Collar Drag to the Back

Blue

Yank the collar past you, take the angle, and climb onto the back in one beat.

When someone kneels in your seated or butterfly guard, the collar drag is a high-percentage path to the back. You are not pulling them onto you. You are making them miss, taking their back-step, and inserting the first hook before they recover their base.

The steps

  1. 01Seated, get a deep same-side or cross collar and a sleeve or tricep.
  2. 02Fall slightly to your hip as you drag the collar past your shoulder — they should feel like they are diving past you.
  3. 03Turn your belly down toward their near hip and post on your free hand.
  4. 04Insert the near hook (your top leg) and glue your chest to their back.
  5. 05Collect the second hook or a body triangle. Seatbelt before you hunt the collar.
